I am thankful for...

The pilgrims and all they endured to come to a free land. I am thankful for a month of thanksgiving to remind us to show gratitude to those around us. Those who have come before, those who set examples that have inspired us, to those who have and do defend our freedom.

I am thankful for...

Hayley. She is a good example of trying to follow the prophet. Hayley has worked on her storage, first aid kit, church job, etc. I am grateful for her as I am for all of my girls.

I am thankful for loving and kind daughter-in-laws that actually enjoy each other.

I am also grateful for the grandkids they provide :]

I'm thankful for...

the leaders of the church. I love conference time and the direction we get from the leaders.

I am thankful for the temple and the peace that can be found there. The work we can do for our kindred dead.

I can't imagine what it will be like when we are able to see all those we knew before and will recognize once again.

I am thankful for...

A ward canning project mostly finished. I now only need to sell the extra cans of goods to the ward members.

My Testimony of the Gospel. The knowledge that we have a loving Heavenly Father that has more faith in us than we sometimes have in our selves.

For a sister that shares my hobbies. Just wish she lived closer.

I am thankful for...

The earth it is such a beautiful place. I love the diversity of the earth. I even love the desolate places. What a wonderful creation.

How did Heavenly Father think of so many different plants and animals? How long did it really take to come up with everything?

My dream is to get snowed in in the mountains in a wonderful cabin. Of course this dream includes plenty to eat and enough fuel to keep warm. And of course a sewing machine and fabric. :P LOL.

I love you all

I am thankful for...

I think this month I will do a month long blog with the things I am thankful for and since I am a day late you will get two days worth.

Nov. 1

I am thankful for wonderful parents and grandparent who have been hard workers and faithful.

Grandma Hansen had 4 children quite fast. I think they were all 12-15 months apart with grandma Cornia as the third child.

Her husband left to find work in Ogden. they ended up getting a divorce and grandma got no support for the children. She worked at what ever job she could get: teachers aid and railroad are two that I know of. On the railroad she did a mans job.

She sacrificed to give her children what they needed. When they were babies she couldn't afford bottles so she fed the children using a pop bottle with a nipple on the top. It had such a small opening she used sand to knock any dry milk from inside of the bottles when she washed them. When 3 of her children got married in the same year she bought each of them a set of real silverware as a wedding gift.

Grandma always planted a large garden and harvested and canned the harvest so they would have food for the winter. It was about 3 times what dad gardens, and it was taken care of by her and the kids.

They lived in a 4 room home. Front room, 2 bedrooms and a kitchen dinning area. They had an out house and a tin tub to bath in(I remember both).

Grandma was born in Mexico in the Mormon Colonies and died in Blackfoot,Idaho(when I was 13 years old). I always wished that she was alive to see my children. I am sure she probably knew them before I did.

Grandma never remarried. I think she was afraid her children might not get treated right by a stepfather. At least that is what I remember them saying.

My Grandpa and grandma Cornia were poor farmers who moved quite a bit. Grandma met grandpa when she was a cook for a rancher and grandpa was one of the cowboys(she was always a good cook).

Grandpa was later injured while working on a dam and became paralyzed. He later went to a chiropractor and slowly recover the use of his legs. During this time grandma and the kids took care of the farm and provided for the family.

They once had a rental but sold it because they were so soft hearted that they would let the renters stay without paying the rent because of hard times.

My parent were both hard workers.

When dad decided to start his own business they had 1 months pay. I was told he spent his last quarter to buy an angel for the top of the Christmas tree that year.

Mother became dads secretary bookkeeper out of necessity and would get the kids off to school, go to work, hurry home and get dinner on the table by the time or shortly after dad got home.

Her house was always clean even thought she worked outside the home (There is another story behind that, that I might tell you some day).

Obviously mother was able to manage money. I don't remember being poor. I am grateful for all they have taught me and the love they have given me.

Nov 2.

I am thankful for my husband and sons: for the great examples they are(no need to elaborate as I have done that plenty already in this blog).

For Bloggers

I was listening to the news and they said that Monday night news at 10 o'clock they would have a report on the dangers of blogs. I am not sure which channel but will up date if I hear. I think it was either channel 2 or 5.
