That Terrible Ager TIME

It's been a long time since I last wrote in this blog. It seems that time waits for no one.

I went to visit an elderly friend today at a nursing and rehabilitation center. She was having a bad day. The words just wouldn't come out correctly. She knew what she wanted to say but the words just wouldn't come.

My mother also is struggling with age. The things she did so well, for so long, are becoming more difficult. That doesn't bother her as much as the fact that she can't always remember how to do the simple things, like run a microwave. drive to her daughters, and the other day make the car go. She is probably going to have to quit driving. Many days she is just as good as ever. It's the bad days she can't remember - and she knows it.

We frequently take for granted those things we can do, until something happens. Then, when we get sick, break a leg, loose our good vision or some other event befalls us we realize what a blessing it is to be able to do those simple things.

I for one am grateful every day for my health, vision, abilities, because I realize how quickly time passes and we loose some of those simple things.
